The speakers in many iMac G3s have developed issues over the years due to degradation of the rubber surrounding the speaker cones. This can cause rattling, distortion, popping, and other unwanted noises during playback.
These replacement speaker drivers offer a way to restore the audio in your iMac G3 (Slot loading models only) without needing to source an entire replacement speaker assembly. They’re ideal for restorations where the original speakers have deteriorated with age.
Installation
Replacing the drivers requires separating the original iMac G3 speaker assembly to access the existing speakers. It’s a relatively involved process, so allow some time for disassembly and take care when working with the original components.
